Introduction
Crystal Mounting Medium (PS0048) is a revolutionary, aqueous-based, mounting medium designed especially for the permanent preservation of immunoperoxidase and alkaline phosphatase stained tissue sections. Crystal Mounting Medium (PS0048) permits the long term storage of antigens localized with organic solvent-soluble chromogens such as the horseradish peroxidase chromogen, 3-amino-9- ethylcarbazole (AEC), 4-chloro-1-napthol and the alkaline phosphatase binary chromogen, 5-bromo-4-chloro- 3-indolyl phosphate/iodonitrotetrazolium (BCIP/INT), and Naphthol AS-MX phosphate/Fast Red TR Salt. When properly mounted with Crystal Mounting Medium (PS0048), these chromogens exhibit enhanced contrast and maintain their original clarity and strength of color. Crystal Mounting Medium (PS0048) can also be used with tissue sections stained with chromogens that are insoluble in organic solvents, such as the horseradish peroxidase chromogen,diaminobenzidine (DAB), thus eliminating the dehydration procedure.
Crystal Mounting Medium (PS0048) is compatible with fluorescein, rhodamine, Texas Red and FluoroBlue stained specimens. When using these dyes, follow the procedure described above except, bake at 60 -70C for 20 minutes. Do not use Crystal Mounting Medium (PS0048) with specimens stained with Phycoerythrin, Phycocyanin or Allophycocyanin. Cystral/Mount is not compatible with the following counterstains: Nuclear Fast Red, BC-50, or LightGreen. It is also not compatible with tetramethylbenzidine (TMB).Crystal/Mount is also not compatible with eosin and should not be used for H&E staining.
